Help with loft clearance ready for insulation
There is good news for home owners who find that they are unable to go ahead with loft insulation due to the physical difficulty of clearing their loft space.
Anchor Staying Put Home Improvement Agency for Mid Sussex and Crawley has been awarded an additional grant to support the cost of their handy person services.
This service helps older and disabled people who need to clear their lofts before insulation is installed for extra warmth. If you think you might be a candidate for this service, please contact:
Jane at “Anchor Staying Put” on 01444 474 690

Our Man with a Van
Handy Person Scheme
We are very pleased to be able to introduce our new, employed, full time handy
person to provide you with a trustworthy and reliable service, at great value prices,
with no call out charge and no VAT to pay on labour. All to give you peace of mind
by carrying out works that will:
* Prevent falls or accidents e.g. grab-rails, internal and external hand-rails, stair-
rails (where Social Services cannot provide), securing loose carpet.
* Home Security e.g. fit window and door locks, door bars or chains, viewers and cat flaps.
* Energy Efficiency e.g. putting up curtain rails and curtains, installing small amounts of door and window drafting, loft clearance prior to loft insulation.
* Fire Safety - where measures are not provided by the Fire Service.
Other works include: changing tap washers, fixing faulty toilet ball valves, fitting toilet seats, hanging pictures and mirrors, putting up shelves, replacing light fittings, changing light bulbs or florescent.
What is the cost?
For most people, the hourly rate (up to 2 hours) is subsidised so that the charge is £18 (or £12 if you are on a means tested benefit). If materials are needed, you will also be expected to pay for these.
If you live in a Crawley Homes or Affinity Sutton property we are sorry we are not able to offer the subsidy. But you can use the Scheme at the hourly rate of £25.
Am I eligible?
If you are not working full-time and eligible to draw a pension or are disabled you are eligible for this Scheme.
Is the work eligible?
The main types of works that are not eligible are decorating and those outside the home, including gardening. That doesn’t mean we cannot help – Staying Put has other schemes. Please
ring to discuss.
How do I apply?
If you think you are eligible to use the service or would like more information, please telephone Staying Put on 01444 476 140.
